Patrick Maio is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of HINICIO, company he founded in 2006 in Brussels, Belgium. Patrick holds a Master’s degree in systems engineering from ECE Paris, a MBA with a focus on international strategy and finance from Solvay Business School, and executive training in Leadership of Professional Service Firms from Harvard Business School. With 20 years of experience in the field of sustainable energy and mobility, and assuming the leadership of more than 150 projects in 20 countries, Patrick has a wide range of expertise, a solid experience leading successfully international teams and projects. Before creating Hinicio, Patrick worked for 7 years as a consultant and manager at Ernst & Young, in Brussels, where among others he was the director of the European Hydrogen and Fuel cells Technology Platform for 3 years. Between 2007 and 2009 Patrick led the World Fuel Cells Council as executive director. Patrick serves as independent director on various boards of directors of innovative startup companies in the alternative energy sector, both in Europe and Latin America. Under his leadership, Hinicio established offices in Brussels (2007), Paris (2009), Bogota (2015), Buenos Aires (2017), Beijing (2018) and Santiago de Chile (2020). Patrick currently lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and speaks fluent English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
