Wilson Sierra, a chemical engineer, he is developing post graduate studies in chemistry on issues related to biotechnology and energy at the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) of Uruguay, where he graduated from the Faculty of Engineering in 2004.

Wilson directs the area of Renewable Energy within the National Office of Renewable Energy (Direccion Nacional de Energias Renovables) of Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining. In this position, since 2008, he has been the national counterpart in multiple cooperation projects aimed at promoting renewable energy in Uruguay. Wilson has also served as the lead evaluator in an expert panel of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

His current work integrates “Biocatalysis and Biotransformation Laboratory”, a laboratory under the Department of Organic Chemistry and Biosciences (Faculty of Chemistry, Universidad de la República), while also lecturing in several courses on Renewable Energy.
