Ariel Yepez is Chief of the Energy Division at the Inter-American Development Bank. Ariel has more than 20 years of senior management experience working in government, energy companies and international organizations. Ample experience in multilateral agencies and government entities promoting sustainable development initiatives. Before joining the Inter-American Development Bank, he worked for the World Bank. He also served as Chief Economist at PEMEX and served in several roles in the Mexican Ministry of Finance, including General Director of Revenue and Pricing Policies. Ariel has also taught classes at the National University of Mexico and the Mexico Institute of Technology. Ariel is the author of books and articles on energy, regulation, public finance, and industrial organization. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and a master’s in economics from el Colegio de Mexico. He recently published a book about households’ energy consumption in Latin American and the Caribbean.
