Global Director of Sustainability, Institutional Relations, Product Development and Engineering
Álvaro is a senior executive with solid background and experience. He is graduated as a Mine Engineer and has a master’s degree in Business Management. Álvaro has over 37 years of professional experience, mostly in the building materials sector. He worked at Lafarge from 1995 to 2010 and occupied different positions in both technical and operational roles, including assignments in Brazil, France, Honduras, and Canada. His last position was Senior Vice President Technical Services, based in Montreal – Canada. Since 2010, Álvaro is working at Votorantim Cimentos. From 2010 to 2013 he worked as Brazil Cement Operations VP. From 2014 to 2016 as Global Technical Director and from 2017 to 2019 as Global Technical and Sustainability Director. Since 2020 Álvaro is leading several global initiatives in the sustainability field, representing Votorantim Cimentos and the cement sector, as well as the company’s innovation / R&D initiatives and engineering projects (brownfield and greenfield). He is also responsible for Institutional Relations and Advocacy, as well as Energy (renewable energy sources and PPA contracts). He serves since 2016 as Board Member of Votorantim Institute (social branch of Votorantim Group).
