Dr. Vernon Paltoo was appointed as the President of the National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago in 2013. Over the past twenty-eight years, he has focused on strategic planning, development, construction, operation, and management of Energy Related Projects and Industrial Infrastructure Assets. Concurrently, Dr. Paltoo’s responsibilities have expanded to include a leading role in the transition of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy industry towards a sustainable and lower carbon future, as well as advancing regional energy development and integration, particularly in natural gas, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green hydrogen. His expertise lies in industrial planning and development, engineering design, energy economics, and project economics. Dr. Paltoo holds a B.Sc. in Chemical and Process Engineering and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, both from The University of the West Indies.
