Guyana launches 217 kW solar grid bringing 24-hour power to remote indigenous village of Batavia

Guyana has inaugurated a 217.4 kW solar grid in the remote indigenous village of Batavia, providing 24-hour electricity to more than 125 homes for the first time. The US$1.4 million project includes a microgrid, a solar array, and individual home systems, developed by CNOOC Petroleum Guyana in partnership with the government. It marks the second major solar installation in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni region.
