Energy efficiency building codes, standards in focus in Grenada

CARICOM Secretariat and the CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) will come together to host a Workshop aimed at establishing a consensus on practical benchmarks for the energy efficiency of buildings. The event is supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), its affiliate partners, and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). The initiative will seek to coordinate CARICOM-wide Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and a Regional Energy Efficiency Strategy (REES), toward an agreement on the considerations for inclusion in a Regional Energy Efficiency Building Code (REEBC). More than 50 regional and international experts are expected to attend the Workshop in Grenada, which is set to take place July 13-15.
