French development agency to back 100-MW solar project in El Salvador

Proparco, a unity of theĀ French Development Agency, will fund a 100 MW solar project in El Salvador.

The USD 30 million (EUR 26.4m) will displace an average of 163K MWh of thermal power generation a year via the Providencia Solar power plant, located near the Monsenor Oscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport outside San Salvador.

The project, which is largely owned by French independent renewable energy producer Neoen SAS, was unveiled last Thursday by the IDB, which previously approved a USD-57.7-million A-loan for the project from its ordinary capital and a USD-30-million co-loan from the bank-administered Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in the Americas.
