France to fund development projects in Cuba

An agreement signed between the Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister and the French Ambassador will fund multiple infrastructure projects in Cuba. The newly opened French Development Agency in Cuba will support renewable energy projects, as well as tourism, transport, and agribusiness, among others. A US$258 million fund is part of a deal to renegotiate Cuba’s external debt with France and other members of the Paris club. The financing will be offered as a long-term loan, as France shows faith in long-term Cuban growth.
