Fifth Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum: 23-25 January, The Bahamas

New Energy Events is pleased to support CARICOM’s headline energy event, the Fifth Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF V), which will be held at the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau, The Bahamas, from 23-25 January, 2017.

Now in its fifth iteration CSEF V is widely regarded as the must-attend clean energy event for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

CSEF V will focus on the policy, planning and decision‑support mechanisms that are necessary for the quantification and articulation of the investment requirements and environment needed to support regional energy transformation. The overall objective is that stakeholders will reach consensus on what they are prepared to do to further define and support the long-term [2027] commitments that are necessary for energy transformation within the Caribbean Community.

Two flagship initiatives, The CARICOM Energy Policy and the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Roadmap & Strategy (C-SERMS), underpin CARICOM’s efforts to support the transition to a robust and sustainable energy matrix for its member states.

Those initiatives will serve as pivot points for CSEF V which will seek, first, to identify and validate mid‑term [2022] and long‑term [2027] C‑SERMS targets and, second, explore approaches to enhance the ability of member states to attract long-term capital to sustainable energy and energy efficiency programs and projects.

Ultimately, the expectation is that CSEF V, which is uniquely situated between government and non‑state actors, will help move the needle forward as countries endeavor to shift energy systems from inefficiency and oil‑dependency to sustainable energy production and use.

Over one hundred participants, comprising Energy Ministers from member states, senior officials from national, regional and international institutions, and industry experts, will attend.

CSEF V is a CARICOM Secretariat event which is organized in collaboration with the Government of The Bahamas. Support for the staging of the Forum is being provided by: The United States (U.S.) Government, through the Organization of American States (OAS); The German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) executed Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technical Assistance (REETA) Programme; The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), through the Canadian Support to the Energy Sector in the Caribbean Fund; The Inter American Development Bank (IDB); and The World Bank, through the SIDS DOCK Support Program.

CSEF V is strictly by-invitation-only. If you would like to request an invitation, please complete and submit this form.
