Peru attractive market for renewable energy investments

Peru is pursuing renewable energy on a number of fronts – hydro power in the Andes, wind power in Ica, Piura and Lambayeque, solar in Tacna and Moquegu, and geothermal energy. Peru is currently 9th and 11th for hydro and geothermal power projects in in world, according to the latest Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index—RECAI by EY (previously Ernst & Young).  

With  60 projects in progress, and 34 of them already in place, Ricardo Del Aguila, a partner at EY, expects all projects to be in operation simultaneously by 2019; joint production will be at least 6  million MWh a year in the first year.
