Enel Green Power focuses on promoting the coexistence of bees, community, and clean energy with the construction of an apiary as part of their La Loma solar project. La Loma is a 187MW (dc) solar project currently in construction in Colombia. Solar apiaries, like this one consist of hives located within the solar energy projects. Currently, 15 hives have been built by Enel Green Power and they are working with local residents who have been specially trained to manage the species. Practices such as the development of solar apiaries have the opportunity to allow green-energy plants built in rural areas to coexist with each other and strengthen efforts to progress sustainable land use, local economies, and biodiversity protection.
