El Salvador opened tender for renewable energy project

El Salvador has received eighteen proposals, twelve solar PV projects and six biogas, for a 28MW renewable energy project.

The National Energy Council of El Salvador, and the electricity distributor DELSUR received this Wednesday the proposals. The call for tenders had been opened in May.

Representatives of SIGET, a government agency overlooking electricity and telecommunications across the country, announced that “the call for tenders for this 28MW project was the result of a public process, following transparency and public participation principles. Both national and international investors put forward proposals”.

The selected proposals will be under a fifteen year contract, and the solar PV plant is expected to be in operation one year from the start of the contract.
