Dominican Republic to add solar PV for self-consumption on over 70 barracks

Dominican Republic’s National Commission for Energy and the Ministry for Defence have signed an agreement to add solar panels for energy self-consumption on over 70 military barracks and other military installations.

The Director of the National Commission for Energy, Ángel Canó, said the military buildings will be “equipped with a photovoltaic system for the supply of electrical energy for lighting and communication equipment for the best performance of their operations”.

The National Commission for Energy will support the Ministry in financing the project.

The Commission will also plan, assess and guide the solar panels’ installation. This project will benefit from a law for Renewable Energy Incentives.
