Developer presents geothermal project proposal in Argentina

Geotermia Andina’s President, Giorgio Stangalino, recently met with Sergio Uñac, the Governor of San Juan, and other stakeholders to discuss his company’s proposal for geothermal projects in this region of the Argentinian Andes, which is thought to have a high potential for geothermal development.

The San Juan region borders Chile, and includes the Valle del Cura area, which has six geothermal manifestations.

The company’s proposal takes into account the location of several nearby mines, as it hopes to provide “clean, renewable and constant, 24 hours a day” power to different gold, silver and copper mining activities in the region, said Mr. Stangalino. “We want to dialogue with mining companies and for that we have the support of the province, given that this is an indigenous resource”, he added.

Geothermal power plants in the area would also have the potential to export power to neighbouring Chile.
