Cuba has begun load testing its first 50 MW battery energy storage system at the Cotorro substation in Havana, part of a broader 200 MW program to stabilize the national grid. The systems are designed to reduce blackouts and support the integration of solar energy by storing excess power and releasing it during peak demand.
