Toni Seymour is a trailblazer in The Bahamas’ energy sector, making history as the first Bahamian woman to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Bahamas Power and Light Company Limited (BPL) in its 68-year history. With a career dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, she is leading the charge toward a more resilient and sustainable energy future for The Bahamas.

Assuming the role of CEO in October 2024, Ms. Seymour brings extensive leadership experience, having previously served as BPL’s Chief Operating Officer, where she managed Generation and Field Operations across the country. She also spent four years at the Grand Bahama Power Company as Director of Energy and VP of Operations, overseeing critical infrastructure and service improvements for the island’s energy network.

A proud native of Long Island and NGM Major High School alumna, she understands firsthand the challenges of energy accessibility in the Family Islands. This perspective fuels her commitment to strengthening energy reliability and sustainability across all communities.

Ms. Seymour holds an Associate Degree in Physics and Chemistry from the former College of The Bahamas and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aeronautical Design Engineering from the University of Brighton, England. She began her journey at BPL as part of the esteemed EngineerIn-Training program, later taking on leadership roles that shaped the company’s infrastructure. Throughout her career, she has led transformative projects, including the construction and commissioning of the Wilson City Power Plant in Abaco and essential Family Island grid upgrades. She is also a recent graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, further enhancing her strategic leadership capabilities.

At a pivotal time in The Bahamas’ energy transition, Ms. Seymour is driving key initiatives such as the Family Island Microgrids and Renewable Energy Projects, the New Providence Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and critical transmission and distribution upgrades integrating solar energy. Her leadership is instrumental in advancing BPL’s mission to provide safe, reliable, and costeffective electricity while fostering a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Seymour is a devoted mother to her son, Ryan, who remains her greatest source of inspiration and motivation.
