Project Manager and Energy Access Consultant
Rafael Yari Cabanillas Gonzalez is a Project Manager and Energy Access Consultant with over ten years of experience managing and implementing projects in high volatile and difficult access contexts. Rafael leads the management and coordination of rural electrification and renewable energy initiatives in the Latin America and Caribbean regions, with a particular focus on TTA’s projects in Haiti.
Currently, Rafael coordinates the technical support for the PHARES programme (Programme Haitien d’Accès des communautés Rurales à l’Energie Solaire), which is actively implementing several mini grids across various rural communities in Haiti.
Beyond his regional project management responsibilities, Rafael serves as a global specialist for Humanitarian and Health electrification projects and efforts within TTA. In this transversal role, he is the main focal point for providing technical support worldwide, including reviewing deliverables, contributing to project conception, and developing tailored strategies for clients in these critical sectors.
Prior to joining TTA, Rafael spent several years coordinating social development projects, primarily in the social, rural development, and humanitarian sectors. Notably, he served as a Logistics Team Leader and Deputy Project Coordinator with Medecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), where his responsibilities included energizing health centers and projects within several African countries.
Rafael brings a strong skillset in technical project management and development, particularly within high-risk and volatile environments. He holds a background in renewable energies from his studies at the University of Arizona in the United States. With fluency in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, Rafael is available for discussions and welcomes interactions in any of these languages.
