Michael Juarbe Laffitte is a bilingual government and legislative affairs executive with proven success in building relationships, managing multiple stakeholders and constituents, directing negotiations, legislative strategies and completing federal funding projects that effect public policy changes on behalf of corporations, trade associations, and a financial oversight board. He has significant experience in working with complex organizations managing and coordinating between different departments and constituents.

Michael joined Sunnova as Senior Manager of Government Affairs for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Territories in November of 2022 where he covers a wide range of policy issues related to solar + storage, as well as being the current Chairman of the Puerto Rico Solar Energy & Storage Association. Mr. Juarbe previously served as the Legislative Relations Advisor for the Puerto Rico Financial Oversight & Management Board where he led the passage of the legislation to restructure the largest municipal bankruptcy and helped built working relationship between the Legislature, the Executive Branch and the Board. Additionally, Mr. Juarbe was the Director of Government Affairs at the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association during hurricane Maria, COVID and the legalization of sports gambling. He was the head of the Associations Casino, Government Affairs, Small Hotels and Allied Member Committee.

Michael holds a B.A. in Business, Organizations & Society from Franklin & Marshall College, a J.D. from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, and a M.P.A. from the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri.
