Costa Rica explores green hydrogen to drive carbon neutrality and spur regional growth

Costa Rica has launched a feasibility study on the use of green hydrogen in sectors like industry, agriculture, and heavy transport as part of the Costa Rica Green Hydrogen project, backed by the Mitigation Action Facility. With a grid powered almost entirely by renewables, the country sees hydrogen as a pathway to carbon neutrality, including potential green ammonia production in the economically challenged Huetar Norte region.
