The Colombian Navy has unveiled “Vector H2,” Latin America’s first hydrogen-powered maritime prototype, developed under its Gaia Strategic Plan to integrate clean technologies into naval operations. The project, which retrofits existing vessels with hydrogen propulsion systems, will progress from a scale model to a full-size operational ship. Aimed at reducing emissions and the Navy’s carbon footprint, the initiative is supported by partnerships with the Colombian Hydrogen Association and highlights hydrogen’s potential as a low-emission fuel in maritime transport.
