Colombia has issued its first geothermal exploration permit, authorizing the five-year El Barranquero project to assess underground heat resources near the Caldas–Antioquia border. The exploration will evaluate the site’s potential for commercial geothermal power generation and could pave the way for future integration into the country’s electricity system.
