Colombia has approved US$2.1 billion for its Colombia Solar program, which aims to equip 1.3 million low-income households with rooftop photovoltaic systems between 2026 and 2030. The initiative seeks to replace traditional electricity subsidies with self-generation, lowering household energy costs and easing pressure on the national subsidy fund. The program is expected to create over 25,000 jobs, promote technical training in renewable energy, and support growth in the country’s green economy, particularly in priority regions.
