Chile is advancing sustainable transportation with a project to develop hydrogen-powered trains, led by Chilean State Railways (EFE) in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, the National Hydrogen Institute, and Hydrox. The initiative involves converting existing Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) into hydrogen-powered trains, with the first prototype undergoing trials to assess its feasibility for regular service.
