CEGA Uses FIC-R Award to Develop Low-Temperature Geothermal Energy Project

After being awarded the Innovation Fund for Regional Competitiveness (FIC-R), The Center of Excellence in Geothermal Energy of the Andes (CEGA) plans to expand its implementation of projects for the use of low-temperature geothermal energy. One of the projects they’re developing will use shallow geothermal energy and operate at one of the lowest costs in the market. It consists of installing an air conditioning system with a Geothermal Heat Pump that will provide thermal comfort in the Winter and Summer. This project will take 18 months to develop, totaling about USD 200 thousand in investments, with around USD 150 thousand from the FIC-R.
