Caribbean Development Bank has launched an expanded geothermal drilling campaign at Mount St. Catherine in Grenada to assess the viability of commercial geothermal power generation. The upgraded program replaces earlier slim wells with deeper rotary wells using directional drilling technology, supported by approximately US$13.3 million in funding from the UK, and building on a previous multi-donor US$9.4 million financing package approved in 2023.
