William Tatham is the Vice President for Cruise Shipping & Marina Operations at the Port Authority of Jamaica. In this position he has portfolio responsibility for cruise shipping for the Island of Jamaica. This includes oversight of cruise port operations at Jamaica’s five cruise ports, the development of new ports-of-call, all B2B industry marketing efforts and is the lead principal in the negotiating of cruise line contracts
During his time in charge of cruise, passenger arrivals grew from 680,000 Pax in 1998 to a peak of 1.9 Million in 2017 and Jamaica’s home-porting business grew by 600%. William also initiated a joint venture partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited and worked with the team to create ‘Historic Falmouth,’ the Caribbean’s first themed cruise port destination.
Most recently in an effort to meet the growing demand for cruises to the Capital City of Kingston William led the development of a cruise port at the old Naval Dockyard in Port Royal which opened in March 2020. In order to ensure the protection of the nearby sunken city William identified as a solution and negotiated for the first Seawalk Cruise Pier in the Western Hemisphere as part of the port development project.
