Shane Lowe

Shane Lowe is a 32-year-old Barbadian who has a keen interest in Caribbean economies, having worked as an economist at both the Central Bank of Barbados and CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank. Since 2019, he has been an economist with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, where his core responsibilities include assessing country risk across 188 countries, with special emphasis on those in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is also the immediate past President of the Barbados Economics Society and has published empirical research papers on a range of economic issues. Shane is currently completing his PhD with the University of Glasgow where he also earned his Master of Science in International Financial Economics. He previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, and is also a holder of the Global Association of Risk Professionals’ Financial Risk Manager certification.
