Energy Specialist, Consultant

Javier works as energy consultant at the Mining, Geothermal and Hydrocarbon Special Group in the Infrastructure and Energy Department of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), based in Washington, DC. In the IDB, he is responsible for the development of high and low enthalpy geothermal projects in Latin-America and the Caribbean, as well as for projects promoting the transition towards renewable energy in the extractive sector. He has ten years of experience in the infrastructure and energy sector. Prior to this position, he worked in energy efficiency, rural electrification and renewable energy projects in the IDB and in the World Bank, researched on regulation and business models for battery storage in Endesa, and served as civil engineer for infrastructure projects in Isolux-Corsán.
He holds a MSc. in Civil Engineering by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, a Master degree in the Power Energy Industry by the Comillas Pontifical University, and an MBA by the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX-CECO).
