Dave Abeleven was appointed on August 1, 2020 as the first managing director of the EAS (Energy Authority of Suriname). Before this he was the permanent secretary of the ministry of Natural Resources in his country since august 2015. During this time he was in charge of the coordination and support to the minister on policy development and implementation regarding mining, water and energy. He has a masters in economics and has been involved in several areas of policy related to Natural resources and energy the past years. He has worked on the establisment of the Extractive Industries Transparency initiative (EITI) in his country and the establishment of the Energy Authority. Before making the transition to the ministry of Natural Resources he was active in the field of education (secondary and tertiary level) as managing director and board member of at least two private universities of applied science in management and economics.
