Arnaud van Dijk is a Partner at KPMG in the Cayman Islands and Head of ESG for the KPMG Islands Group (KIG). He brings over 18 years of local and international sustainable finance and corporate sustainability experience to the firm. Over his career he has delivered a broad range of ESG and impact services to leading financial institutions (banks, insurance companies and asset owners), leading companies and governments. Arnaud has been working with governments, corporates and financial institutions on strategically and practically addressing ESG risks and opportunities in their business strategy and operations, financing and investing activities, and impact reporting and disclosures.

His work in infrastructure includes leading the ESG due diligence of ports, toll roads, airports, and other infrastructure assets as part of the private equity transactions. He has been involved in both buy-side and sell-side due diligence of infrastructure assets across the world. Arnaud has also been involved with the development and implementation of an ESG approach for a major port.

His work with governments includes for example a deep ESG sector risk analysis to assess ESG risk exposure (identification and mitigation) of key sectors and understand sectors’ approach to ‘responsibility to respect’ (in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights). This analysis included an analysis of ESG risks in over 50 value chains, 50+ stakeholder consultations, the participation of 30 NGOs and desktop research including over 2,000 sources.

Arnaud has been working with a large multinational healthcare company on understanding existing and upcoming investor driven ESG requirements. He has been working with a healthcare company on auditing their sustainability metrics, including site visits of production plants in Asia and Europe.

In addition, he has been advising corporate clients in various capacities on sustainability risk management, impact measurement, ethics governance and business codes of conduct, integrated reporting, internal audit, and assurance training.

 Arnaud has extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with international sustainability and assurance guidelines and standards such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Principles for Responsible Banking, UN Principles for Responsible Investment, UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance, Taskforce Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), IFC operating principles for impact investing, Principles for positive impact finance, IFC performance standards, Sustainable finance principles (such as sustainability or green bond principles), GRI, <IR> Framework, SASB, GHG protocol, various ISO standards, IFRS ISSB, ISAE3000 and 3410, and AA1000 Series.
