Caribbean Transmission Development Company (CTDC) aims to connect DR and Puerto Rico via a submarine electrical cable

The Caribbean Transmission Development Company (CTDC) revealed that connecting the Dominican Republic with Puerto Rico via a submarine electrical cable would cost over US$1 billion. Despite challenges, the project aims to strengthen ties between the two economies and, according to CTDC, would be completed by 2030. CTDC has submitted a proposal to the federal government seeking authorization to proceed with the initiative, known as the Hostos Project.
