Brazil plans to set up Latin American and Caribbean Biogas Association

Brazil’s International Centre for Renewable Energy (CIBiogas) announced on Tuesday it is planning to set up a Latin American and Caribbean Biogas Association. Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Cuba are all interested in partnering in the new agency, that will strive to foster the exchange of policies and technological know-how as well as defining a common approach to biogas projects  development in all the countries participating. The new entity will also seek to strengthen the biogas source in member countries and add value to Latin American technology, reducing the dependence on US and European products. An initial meeting is planned for the first half of 2016 to shape the association and define its works.
