Brazil approves first co-located battery storage system at solar plant in Bahia

Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has approved the country’s first co-located battery energy storage system at Statkraft’s Sol de Brotas 7 solar plant in Bahia, marking a regulatory milestone for integrating storage with generation assets. The lithium-ion system has a 5,016 kWh capacity and 1,250 kW installed power, allowing excess solar energy to be stored and dispatched when needed to support grid stability.
