Blue Economy Accounted for 7% of Jamaica’s GDP in 2017

The Blue Economy was responsible for more than US$1 billion of GDP in Jamaica in 2017, according to Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Director of Economics Dr. Justin Ram. The announcement was part of the CDB’s annual news conference in Barbados, and included wider discussions about economic growth in the region. Among the economic leaders in 2019 were Anguilla and Dominica, which saw growth of 10.9 % and 5.7%, respectively. Also of note: the bank invested nearly US$100 million in 2019 to finance the installation of more than 200,000 LED street lights across the Caribbean.
