Barbados has received funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the European Union (EU) for renewable energy projects. The Government of Barbados will use the funds to explore offshore projects, focusing on ocean thermal energy, fixed offshore wind, and floating offshore wind projects.
The island’s Public Sector Smart Energy Program has called for studies and research to explore the potential, feasibility and development of these types of projects in the country.
