Antigua and Barbuda’s green energy push

Antigua and Barbuda are working hard to capitalize on an abundant supply of sunshine and green energy. A solar farm at Antigua’s newly-redeveloped VC Bird International Airport will have an installed capacity of 3 MW and the government is planning the placement of 2 MW installations on government buildings around the island. Additional plans to utilize solar power include  a 4 MW site, planned for the southern part of the island, and a one MW site in Barbuda. Overall, the project includes 10 megawatts of solar energy generation for the country, aimed at reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
