Dominica’s prime minister announced the government plans “to go it alone with regards to this small plant”, referring to the geothermal project which has been years in the making. New Energy Events has tracked the progress of the Dominica project, which as of May 2016 was seeking a private partner with $50m from the World Bank on the line. The government has been steadfast in ensuring the project will not be abandoned, and while they had previously hoped the private sector could be involved, they will now use the opportunity to own the resources and development, eventually making the project available to the Dominican public via shares.
