Peru’s wind, solar output rises 54% in April

Over the past year, Peru experienced a tremendous growth in wind and solar generation. Total power reached 4,293 GWh, a 9% increase from the previous year thanks to the 97 MW CE Tres Hermanas wind park in the Ica region.  Hydropower plant output grew 7.1% on the year to 2,369 GWh, while thermal plants generated 1,813 GWh, about a 9.5% increase. Costa Rica set a precedent last year by providing 100% renewable energy to its national grid for more than 180 days.
