Brazil’s electricity regulator ANEEL has proposed including the country’s first grid-scale battery storage project in its April 2027 transmission auction. The 18-year concession would involve a battery system in Acre, allowing storage to be contracted as a regulated transmission asset and establishing a new framework for using batteries to improve grid reliability.
