Ecopetrol launches 50 MW Quifa solar farm to power oil operations and cut emissions

Ecopetrol has begun generating electricity from its 50.1-MW Quifa solar farm in Colombia’s Meta department, a joint project with Frontera Energy designed to power its nearby oil fields and improve energy self-sufficiency. The facility, which uses over 81,800 panels, is expected to produce about 76.1 GWh annually and cut more than 11,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
