Engie Chile makes progress on Kallpa wind-plus-storage project

Engie Chile has completed 44% of construction on a 57-MW/285-MWh battery energy storage system integrated with its 344-MW Kallpa wind farm in northern Chile, marking its first hybrid wind-plus-storage project. The US$69 million BESS is expected to begin commercial operations in the second half of 2026 and will provide up to five hours of discharge, supplying electricity equivalent to the average consumption of about 34,000 households.
