The world’s largest battery-powered ferry, China Zorrilla, has begun port trials in Australia ahead of its service between Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Colonia, Uruguay. Built by Incat Tasmania, the 130-meter aluminum vessel is powered by over 5,000 batteries totaling 40 MWh and can carry up to 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles. The ferry will cover the 50–58 km Río de la Plata route in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
