IFC backs Central Puerto with US$300 million for hydropower and battery storage in Argentina

The IFC has agreed a US$300 million financing package with Argentina’s Central Puerto to support investments in hydropower and battery storage, including the acquisition of a stake in the 1,440 MW Piedra del Aguila hydropower plant. The funding will also back a 150 MW BESS project in Greater Buenos Aires, supporting grid stability, renewable integration and Argentina’s ongoing electricity market reforms.
