EIB has approved a loan of up to US$135 million for Atome PLC’s green fertilizer project in Villeta, Paraguay. The 145 MW hydrogen-to-ammonia facility will produce 260,000 tonnes of green fertilizer annually using renewable power from the Itaipu dam. The project, which has secured a renewable power purchase agreement, is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2028. Atome is also seeking additional funding from the Green Climate Fund, FMO, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
