Transelec has begun construction on its first battery energy storage system (BESS), a 105 MW/420 MWh facility integrated with Copec’s 123 MWp Granja Solar park in Chile’s Tarapacá region. The system will store solar energy for delivery during peak demand or low generation periods, aiming to reduce renewable energy curtailment and enhance grid stability. The project is expected to be operational by early 2026.
