Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy has introduced a legislative proposal to reform the electricity sector, focusing on fairer tariffs, expanded consumer choice, and cost rebalancing. A key feature includes a new Social Tariff that would eliminate electricity bills for around 4.5 million low-income families using up to 80 kWh monthly, benefiting up to 17 million households overall.
