AES Andes announces the commencement of commercial operations for the second phase of its energy storage system in Chile

AES Andes announced the commencement of commercial operations for the second phase of its Virtual Reservoir energy storage system in Chile. The system, known as Virtual Reservoir II, is connected to the Alfafal I run-of-river hydroelectric plant in San Jose de Maipo, Santiago Metropolitan region. Equipped with Gridstack technology from Fluence Energy Inc., it has the capacity to inject up to 197 MWh of electricity into the grid during peak demand hours.
