4.1MW wave power project coming to Mexico

Upon receiving interconnection approval from Mexico National Energy Control Centre, Israel’s Eco Wave Power has revealed plans to build a 4.1MW project in Mexico’s Manzanillo Port – the first of its kind for Mexico.

The 4.1MW project will be located in the Cuyutlán-Tepalcates beach area of Manzanillo in Colima state. Eco Wave Power has already completed all relevant studies on the 5000 square meters of land for the project, and has submitted a generation permit application to the Energy Regulatory Commission.

The company has raised the first $1m for the scheme and intends to raise an additional $12m within the next six months.

“We are very excited and looking forward to receive the remaining permits and start the construction of EWP’s first power plant in Mexico,” said co-founders David Leb and Inna Braverman.
