New Energy Events, hosts of the Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum (CREF), are excited to announce the seven recipients of its 6th annual CREF Industry Awards. The Awards – which recognize outstanding achievement in the Caribbean’s transition to a clean energy future – were celebrated on stage during the 16th annual CREF in Miami.
The Awards Advisory Committee congratulates the recipients of the annual CREF Industry Awards:
- Outstanding Achievement Award: Earl Barrett, General Manager, Wigton Windfarm
- Best Microgrid Project: Exuma Cay Microgrid, Solar Island Energy | Bahamas Energy and Solar Supplies
- Best Financing: AES Warehouse Facility for Renewable Energy Projects, AES | IDB Invest, Bladex, JP Morgan and Scotiabank
- Best Utility Scale Project: Parque Fotovoltaico Cotoperi Solar
- Best Energy Resilience Project: Provo Water Company Middle Booster Pump Station Smart Solar LTD, Turks and Caicos
- Best Distributed Generation Project or Program: Strengthening Energy Sector Resilience in Jamaica, JERA | Cadmus | USAID
- Best E-Mobility Project: Bus Electrification Project, Phase II | Bermuda Ministry of Transport
Award recipients were selected by an industry-leading Advisory Committee comprising Charlin Bodley, Associate Director for the Energy Innovation Portfolio at the Bezos Earth Fund; Gillian Charles-Gollop, Executive Director, Corporate Banking & Sustainable Finance, CIBC Caribbean; Devon Gardner, Head of Technical Programmes at the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE); and David Gumbs, Director, Islands Energy Program, Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI).
David Gumbs comments: “The palpable energy and excitement at this year’s awards ceremony underscored the remarkable creativity and scale of the projects, both large and small. This event truly showcased how far we have come along the renewable energy transition pathway.”
